Impaired Charges After Roundabout Crash

St. Thomas police allege a woman had twice the legal amount of alcohol in her system when she crashed her vehicle in a city roundabout.

Police were called to the roundabout at Sunset Dr. and Wellington Rd. around 6:40pm on Saturday by a citizen who reported seeing a woman walking away from a crash. Officers located a woman a short distance away.

A breathalyzer test found the woman's blood alcohol level was over two times the legal limit, according to police. Further investigation revealed the woman had a court order not to consume alcohol.

A 36-year-old woman is charged with operating a motor vehicle while over 80 mg of alcohol in blood and breach of a court order.

No one was hurt in the single-vehicle collision.
