Knights Fall In Home Opener Against Spits

The London Knights lost 5-2 to the Windsor Spitfires in their home opener on Friday.

Windsor took an early lead thanks to a goal by Igor Larionov in the first three minutes of the game, but Josh Nelson tied things up by scoring for London 14:35 into the first period.

Cole Purboo gave the Spits a 2-1 lead with the first goal of the second frame, but Adrian Carbonara scored to tie it for London again after 16:26.  Chris Playfair responded by scoring for Windsor with under a minute left in the period to make it 3-2 for the Spitfires.

Tyler Angle and Aaron Luchuk scored back-to-back goals in the third period to ensure the win for Windsor.

Spitfires goaltender Michael DiPietro made 30 saves, while goalie Tyler Johnson made 27 saves for London.

The Knights are in Saginaw on Saturday to battle the Spirit at 7:05pm. And then on Sunday, the Spitfires face off against the Guelph Storm at 2:05pm.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
