Spitfires Edge Knights 2-1

The Windsor Spitfires handed the London Knights their 7th loss in a row.

The Spitfires beat the Knights 2-1 Friday night at Budweiser Gardens.

Aaron Luchuk score a goal late in the first period to put Windsor on the board, and Chris Playfair added another 1:18 into the second to make it 2-0.

The Spits held off London for the rest of the second period, but Cliff Pu was able to score for the Knights 13:24 into the third, to cut Windsor's lead in half. However, London wasn't able to complete the comeback and tie the game before the final buzzer.

Goaltender Michael DiPietro made 38 saves for Windsor, while goalie Jordan Kooy made 11 for London.

The Knights are at home again on Sunday when they take on the Owen Sound Attack at 2pm. Also on Sunday, the Spitfires will batle the Sarnia Sting at the WFCU Centre at 2:05pm.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
