Inquest To Be Held Into Death Of Strathroy Inmate

An inquest will be held into the death of a Strathroy man who died in January 2015 while serving a five year prison sentence for a string of robberies.

Jeffrey Ysebert, 34, was a subject of a man hunt in the summer of 2012, following robberies in Watford, St. Marys, London, and at Poag’s Jewellers in Strathroy.

Ysebert was pronounced dead in hospital January 11, 2015 after he was found unresponsive in his cell at the Warkworth Institution.

The two day inquest will begin November 8 at the Cobourg Courthouse, where a jury will hear from eight witnesses. Under the Coroner's Act, inquest is mandatory in all cases involving the death of an inmate.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Ysebert's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
