Alleged Drunk Driver Slams Into House

A 28-year-old man is charged with drunk driving and drug offences after a car slammed into a St. Thomas home over the weekend.

St. Thomas police say a southbound car was making a left turn at the corner of Ross St. and Hemlock St. around 3am on Sunday when the driver lost control, causing the car to veer off the road.

The car crashed through a fence before hitting the side of a house on the southeast corner of the intersection. The crash left a gaping hole and knocked out power to the home.

Police allege the male driver and female passenger tried to run from the scene, but were arrested a short distance away.

Approximately 116g of marijuana, weigh scales, and a large amount of cash was seized during the arrest.

The driver of the vehicle is charged with impaired driving, driving with over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
