Free Oil Changes For Veterans

It's an unconventional show of appreciation, but some local auto shops will be offering veterans free oil changes for their vehicles leading up to Remembrance Day.

London's three Mr. Lube locations are joining more than 100 other outlets across the country offering the service on November 10 to veterans and individuals currently serving in the military. A warranty-approved oil change has an approximate value of $49.

Last year, roughly 150 veterans had their oil changed for free during the initiative at the London locations at 591 Oxford St., 1149 Highbury Ave., and 664 Commissioners Rd. E.

Kelowna franchise owner Darren Pierce first implemented the program in 2014. It was extended across BC in 2015 and to the rest of Canada in 2016.

To receive the free service military personnel and veterans will be required to show their Canadian Service ID or have a Canadian veteran licence plate.

Mr. Lube locations in Cambridge, Guelph, Hamilton, Burlington, Kitchener, and Waterloo are also taking part.
