SIU Drops Investigation In Oneida

The Special Investigations Unit has dropped an investigation into an incident on the Onieda of the Thames First Nation.

According to the SIU, on the afternoon of July 26, 2017, a vehicle was involved in a hit and run in London. The same vehicle was later involved in another crash. OPP officers were able to determine that the vehicle and driver were in a field on the Oneida of the Thames First Nation. An arrest was made and a suspect was then taken to hospital for treatment of a head injury.

However, the suspect would not co-operate with SIU investigators.

“The man refused to provide a statement to the SIU, and as such, the Unit was unable to determine how his injuries were caused," said SIU Director Tony Loparco. "Accordingly, I have terminated the investigation into this incident.”
