Police Investigate Reported Abduction Attempt

London police are investigating after a young boy said a man in a van tried to kidnap him.

Police were called Thursday and told that, around 3:30pm, the 8-year-old boy left his school and began riding home on his scooter. When he was in the area of Stackhouse Ave. and Devos Dr., the boy says a red van pulled into a driveway and blocked his path. A man got out and pushed the boy and his scooter into the van.

The boy told police that he was able to get out with his scooter and go home.

The driver is described as a white male, about 40 years old. The van is described as older model red van with a black interior.

"The circumstances surrounding the reported abduction attempt are still under investigation," police said in a statement issued Friday afternoon.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in on-line anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com
