Days after a shooting in a south London neighbourhood, police say a suspect has been arrested and charged.
Stephen Gayle-Harrison, 31, of London was arrested Tuesday. He faces several charges, including attempted murder.
Police say, when he was arrested, Gayle-Harrison was alleged to have been in possession of a gun. Forensic testing will be done to see if it was the one used in the shooting.
Emergency crews were called to a home on Nixon Ave. near Ferndale Ave. around 4:30am Saturday. When they arrived, police learned that a man had been shot and taken to hospital. He is still in serious condition.
The home where the shooting happened, according to a report in the London Free Press, has long been used as an illegal after-hours "booze can" and neighbours had complained to police several times about the noise.
Gayle-Harrison is charged with:
Attempted murder Use of a firearm during the commission of an indictable offence Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition Pointing a firearm Possession of a weapon Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon Possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon Possession of a loaded/unloaded regulated firearm Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order Discharging a firearm with intent to wound/endanger life or prevent arrest
This would not be Gayle-Harrison's first brush with the law. In 2014, he was the subject of a Crime Stoppers video, when he was wanted for failing to comply with his court conditions related to a 2010 shooting.
