OPP Officers Hurt During Aylmer Arrest

Three provincial police officers were hurt with a knife while taking down a wanted man in Aylmer.

The officers, from Norfolk and Haldimand Counties, spotted a man wanted by police in the parking lot of a north-end business around 8:30pm Thursday. The man tried to run away before pulling out what police describe as an "edged weapon."

During the arrest, three officers suffered minor injuries. They were taken to hospital and have since been released.

Aylmer police were called to the scene to assist the officers.

A 33-year-old Norfolk County man is charged with four counts of assaulting an officer, possession of a dangerous weapon, and failing to comply with probation. He was to make an appearance in St. Thomas court Friday.
