Charges Laid After Downtown Car Fire

A Thamesford man is facing charges after police and fire crews responded to a car fire in downtown London.

Just after 4pm Wednesday, fire crews were called to Dundas St. near Wellington St. to put out the blaze. Police say two men were in the vehicle when one allegedly set the fire. Both men's clothing caught fire before they escaped the car. They were able to put the flames on their clothes out.

Two London police foot patrol officers who were in the area arrested one of the men, while the other was found in a nearby store. Both were taken to hospital where they are in critical condition.

William McDonald, 28, of Thamesford is charged with arson causing bodily harm, aggravated assault, and breach of a recognizance.

Police are still investigating.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
