Driver Medical Emergency Blamed For Crash

A woman is dead after suffering a medical emergency while driving, leading to a crash that shut down a section of Oxford St. during the morning commute Wednesday.

Emergency crews were called to Oxford St. at Rathnally St., west of Wharncliffe Rd. around 8:10am after two vehicles collided.

The driver of one of the vehicles, an adult woman, was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

London police say it appears the woman died as a result of a medical condition and not as a result of the crash.

The woman's name and age have not been released as police are notifying her family.

No one else was hurt in the crash.

Oxford St. between Wharncliffe Rd. and Woodward Ave. were closed for roughly two hours as officers investigated. The street has since been reopened.
