Knights Doused By The Storm 3-2

Ryan Merkley's three points meant defeat for the London Knights.

The Guelph Storm put up two quick goals early in the game, on their way to a 3-2 win over the Knights at Budweiser Gardens Sunday afternoon.

The Knights still have 56 points in the OHL Midwest Division, good for second place behind Kitchener.

Liam Hawel scored first for the Storm at 3:48 in the first frame, and Isaac Ratcliffe doubled the Guelph lead on the power play eight minutes later. London cracked the scoreboard before the first intermission when Billy Moskal scored his second goal of the season.

Merkley scored early in the second period, with a goal that turned out to be the game-winner. Evan Bouchard responded for the Knights with a power play goal just over a minute later.

The third period was perfect, with no scoring or penalties on either side. Merkley had two additional assists in the game.

Anthony Popovich stopped 25 shots in goal for Guelph. Jordan Kooy collected 29 saves in the loss for the Knights.

London is back at it on Friday night when they host the Barrie Colts.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
