Cop Assaulted By Shoeless Woman

A St. Thomas woman is facing an assault charge after a police officer was kicked in the abdomen during an arrest.

Neighbours called St. Thomas police to a home on Inkerman St. where a woman was heard yelling from the backyard around 6:30pm last Thursday.

Officers arrived on scene and found a 50-year-old woman, who they say was both barefoot and intoxicated. While trying to help the woman put her shoes, an officer was kicked twice in the abdomen. Fortunately, the officer was not hurt.

The woman was arrested. She is now charged with assault, resisting arrest, and causing a disturbance.
