Man Charged In Armed Pharmacy Robbery

Charges have been laid against a London man in connection with an armed robbery at an east-end pharmacy.

London police were called to Dundas Pharmacy at 1560 Dundas St., near First St. around 2:20pm Wednesday after a man, with a bandana covering his face, pulled a handgun on the pharmacist and demanded narcotics. The man then took off with an undisclosed amount of prescription drugs, using the employee's vehicle as his getaway car. The pharmacist was shaken but otherwise unhurt in the holdup.

The stolen vehicle was found shortly after on Hilton Ave. Police, including members of the K-9 unit, searched the area where the vehicle was found but were unable to find the man.

Investigators later identified a suspect. He was arrested at a house on Simcoe St. Evidence related to the robbery was also found at the home, said police.

A 38-year-old London man is charged with eight offences including armed robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, wearing a disguise with intent, possession of a weapon, and pointing a firearm.

While police continue to investigate the robbery, they now believe the handgun used was actually a pellet gun.
