St. Thomas Man Arrested For Impaired Driving

A St. Thomas man is facing impaired driving charges after police found drugs in his system.

Police say on Sunday at around 8:40am, a 21-year-old St. Thomas man was arrested for impaired driving.

According to police, officers were called to the area of South Edgeware and Burwell Rd. to investigate a motor-vehicle collision.

It is reported that the officers on scene believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The man was taken to the police station where he was found to be under a combination of marijuana and other drugs.

Police say further tests were conducted by a drug recognition expert and the man is now facing charges of impaired driving by drugs,  possession of a controlled substance, as well as a number of provincial offences.

The man was later released with a future court date.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
