Police Arrest Alleged Thief Who Targeted Churches

London police say they have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with break-ins at three churches in the city.

The first break-in was at Westmount Presbyterian Church on Village Green Ave. in the city's west end sometime between February 20-21.

That was followed a couple of days later by two more overnight break-ins -- one at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Baseline Rd. E. and another at a church at 290 Wortley Rd.

Officers say the pattern was investigated by members of the Street Crime Unit and as a result, police arrested a 28-year-old London man and charged him with three counts of break and enter.

Investigators say there were also a number of break and enters reported at other religious institutions of varying denominations in the Old South/Wortley Village area in January 2018. Those incidents are still under investigation.
