Heavy Snowfall Could Drop On London

A harsh reminder that it is still winter is expected to come down Thursday.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, warning of the potential for a heavy snowfall late Thursday and into Friday morning.

It's still not clear how quickly the precipitation will change from rain to snow, but at this point, forecasters say the London-Middlesex region could be in line to receive more than 15 cm of the white stuff. A little closer to Lake Erie, Elgin County is expected to get about 20-30 mm of rain and possibly more than 10 cm of snow in some locations.

Strong and gusty winds out of the northeast could also reduce visibility for drivers late Thursday and into Friday.

The storm system is expected to clear up by Friday morning.
