Former City Councillor Passes Away

Former city politician and popular retirement income expert Ted Wernham has died.

The four-term city councillor passed away on Monday night, his brother Tom has confirmed.

Wernham served as the Ward 7 councillor from 1985 to 1998. He was a former chair of the city's planning committee and the London Transit Commission.

Outside of public office, Wernham spent over 40 years helping people plan for retirement. He was the president and CEO of London-based Wernham Wealth Management and was named the top investment advisor in Canada out of 6,000 associates in 2014, 2015, and 2016.

Under Wernham's direction, the retirement investment firm was nominated for the London Chamber of Commerce Business Achievement Award and the Better Business Bureau Integrity Award last year. He is also a past national director of the Financial Advisors Association of Canada.

Wernham leaves behind his wife Earlene, eight children and six grandchildren. He was in his mid-60s.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
