Man Charged For Assaulting Brother In Wheelchair

What appears to have started as a squabble between brothers in St. Thomas has ended with one being charged with assault.

St. Thomas police were called by a concerned citizen Wednesday afternoon who reported seeing a man elbow and slap another man as he sat in a wheelchair on Talbot St., near Ross St.

Officers arrived on scene and discovered the men were brothers involved in a family dispute. The man in the wheelchair was not hurt.

A 45-year-old man from St. Thomas was arrested. He is charged with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation.

The man was released from police custody on a promise to appear in court.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
