Strong Winds Knock Down Trees, Cut Power

Thousands of London Hydro and Hydro One customers experienced power outages due to a wind storm that swept across the region.

Strong winds knocked out power to thousands of people in London, Strathroy, southwest Middlesex and sections of Oxford County.

Winds gusting up to 100km/h toppled trees, downed power lines, and sent debris flying.

Restoration was expected between 5pm and 11pm Friday evening, however, some areas of Middlesex Centre may not have power until Saturday afternoon.

A wind warning was also been issued for London-Middlesex and most southwestern Ontario, however, the winds died down Friday evening.
