St. Thomas Senior Attacked With Crowbar

Assault charges have been laid after a 72-year-old St. Thomas man was attacked with a crowbar while sitting on his back porch.

St. Thomas police were called to a home on Scott St. just before 6:40pm on Wednesday and found the elderly man bleeding profusely in his bathroom.

Investigators determined the injured man was sitting on his deck with a friend when the two got into an argument. The friend left, but soon returned armed with a crowbar. The victim was hit several times in the head without warning, according to police. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 60-year-old man, already under a court order not to possess any weapons, was arrested. He is charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm and one count of disobeying a court order.
