Charges Laid In Downtown Stabbing

A London man is facing assault and robbery charges after a stabbing in the downtown over the weekend.

A 26-year-old man was outside of a Richmond St. home around 1:50am on Saturday when he was confronted by another man, who hit him over the head with a pipe and then stabbed him in the chest. The attacker then rode off on the victim's bicycle.

Emergency crews were called and found the victim suffering from serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery.

The following day, London police, with the help of the London Fire Department, searched the rooftop of a Richmond St. building. Officers seized a number of items, including a knife.

A 52-year-old London man is charged with aggravated assault and robbery with violence.

Police confirmed this was not a random attack as the two men were known to each other.
