Tillsonburg Auto Parts Plant Closing

Nearly 100 people in Tillsonburg will be out of a job by the end of the year.

Auto parts plant ZF-TRW has announced plans to close its Spruce St. facility as it shifts production down south.

"The follow-on next-generation contract for the current business at Tillsonburg is being moved to Mexico," company spokesman John Wilkerson said in a statement emailed to Blackburn News. "Current production at Tillsonburg will phase out around the end of November with a small crew of employees remaining in December of 2018 and the plant will close by the end of the year."

Currently, 71 people are employed at the Tillsonburg plant.

This is the second major employer to leave the town in the past year. Siemens, a wind turbine blade manufacturer, announced the closure of its plant and loss of 340 jobs last July.
