Boy Offered Ride By Strangers In Ingersoll

Provincial police are investigating after an 11-year-old boy was offered a ride by a man and woman in Ingersoll.

The child was walking in the area of Hillside Rd. and Victoria St. around 8:20pm Saturday when the blue, four-door SUV with tinted windows pulled up alongside him. The pair inside, who were not known to the boy, asked if he wanted to come with them for a drive to a nearby town.

The kid declined and left the area without incident. The vehicle was last seen heading westbound on Victoria St.

Officers canvassed the area after the boy's parents reported the interaction but did not locate the two people involved.

The driver of the SUV is described as a dark coloured man, age 30 to 35, with shoulder length dark hair. While the female passenger is described as white, 30 to 35-years-old, with medium length brown hair.

Oxford OPP are reminding the public to always be aware of their safety and to be extremely vigilant and aware of their surroundings.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 1-800-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
