Police Seeking Stolen Ashes

Police in St. Thomas are hoping the public can help them find cremated remains that were stolen from a vehicle.

The ashes, which were in a small plastic container (similar to the 35 mm film case seen in the picture above), were taken Thursday night from a vehicle parked in a driveway on Barwick St. They were among several items that were taken from the glove box and centre console.

According to police, family members intended to spread the ashes at a special location on Friday.

"The family are pleading with the thief to please return the ashes to their residence with no questions asked," police said in a statement issued Friday. "Police are asking neighbours to check their property."

If anyone in the area finds a container similar to the one seen in the photo, please contact STPS at 519-631-1224 www.stps.on.ca.
