High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

A 48-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries in a collision in Norfolk County.
Ontario Provincial Police say the incident happened around 4:15pm Saturday on Hwy. 3 at Schaffer Side Road in Middleton. The woman was riding a motorcycle westbound on Hwy 3. when it was struck by a pickup truck heading northbound on Schaffer Side Road.
The woman was first taken by ambulance to a local hospital, then airlifted to a London hospital for further treatment. The driver of the pickup, a 24-year-old man, was not hurt.
The investigation continues and charges are pending.
