Motorcycle Crash Victim Identified

Provincial police have identified a 45-year-old Strathroy-Caradoc man as the motorcyclist killed in a crash near Belmont earlier this week.

Brent Austin was riding one of two motorcycles north on Belmont Rd. in Central Elgin around 4pm Tuesday when they collided with a southbound SUV that was attempting to turn left onto Yorke Line.

Austin was rushed to hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The other motorcycle driver and the driver of the SUV were also taken to hospital. They have since been treated and released.

The collision closed a section of Belmont Rd. for several hours Tuesday night.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending, according to Elgin OPP.
