Five charged in home invasion

Two people were injured and five have been charged after a home invasion on the weekend.

London police say a 911 call came in around 6 p.m. Sunday and officers were sent to a home on Essex St., where several men armed with weapons had broken in. According to police, the weapons included a handgun and a crowbar. The intruders told the residents that they were London police officers and had a search warrant. Two of the residents were assaulted.

When police arrived, the intruders took off, but five were arrested after a foot chase.

Khalaf Shammo, 22, Mourad Shammo, 25, Falah Shammo, 27, and Headar Shammo, 31, all of Winnipeg, and Khalid Shammo Kheder, 18, of London, are each charged with break and enter, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, and impersonating a police officer. Headar Shammo is also charged with two counts of breach of recognizance.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
