Stolen truck rams police cruisers

A 32-year-old man is facing nearly a dozen charges after a stolen truck crashed into two police cruisers, a civilian vehicle, and a parked trailer in southeast London.

The bizarre incident began when a man attempted to use fake identification to rent a vehicle at a Wharncliffe Road South business around 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday. It is alleged the man acted in a threatening manner towards staff, which led to a call to London police.

When officers arrived the man ran away, hopping over fences before stealing a pickup truck from an auto dealership. Police followed the pickup through a residential area and eventually stopped it on Kingsford Cresent near Commissioners Road East, but not before it rammed two police cruisers, another vehicle, and a parked trailer.

No one was hurt, but damages are estimated to be over $29,000.

Bradley Wilson, 32, of no fixed address, is charged with 11 offences including dangerous driving, uttering threats to cause property damage, theft of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, failing to stop for police, resisting arrest, mischief over $5,000, and leaving the scene of a crash.

He was scheduled to appear in London court Thursday.
