Thieves target homes of mourners

Provincial police in Elgin County are investigating after two families that were attending funerals were victimized by thieves.

Elgin OPP said both break-ins happened last month.

On August 3 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., a home on Crinan Line in West Elgin was entered by thieves while the family was at a funeral. Jewellery, money, and identifcation documents were stolen. A similar incident happened on August 30 on Hacienda Rd. in Malahide Township. Sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., a home was entered and electronics, money, clothing, and tools were stolen.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
