Charge laid after man scales construction crane

Police say a charge has been laid after a man climbed a construction crane in downtown London.

Officers were called to the area of King Street and Ridout Street around 7:15 p.m. Monday for a report of a man in distress. When they arrived, they found a man climbing a crane at a construction site. The Emergency Response Unit was called to the scene and members climbed the crane to help the man. When they spoke to him, it was determined he was not in distress. After several hours, officers helped the man get down from the crane and he was arrested.

A 31-year-old man, of no fixed address, is charged with mischief endangering life.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in on-line anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com
