Unusual belt buckle leads to arrest

A Woodstock man's choice of belt buckle led to calls to police and ultimately his arrest.

Woodstock police got a call about a man walking with what was believed to be a pistol on his waist in the area of Dundas Street and Vansittart Avenue around 4:10 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers quickly located the man and discovered the weapon was actually a belt buckle accessory that was designed to look like a semi-automatic pistol.

“It is not a criminal offence to wear such a belt accessory, however, it does show a lack of common sense," said Sgt. Neil Butler.

The 42-year-old Woodstock man was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
