Man charged after stolen vehicle rams cruiser

London police say a man is in custody after a stolen vehicle hit a cruiser near Gibbons Park.

Around 6:30 a.m. Sunday, a man reported to police that his vehicle had been stolen from his driveway on Talbot Street. Just before 10 a.m., a London police officer spotted the vehicle on Grosvenor Street near Gibbons Park. According to police, the driver backed into a cruiser before driving into the park, where the vehicle then hit a tree.

The driver got out and ran, but was arrested by police.

A search of the driver allegedly turned up fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, LSD, and a debit card that did not belong to the arrested man.

A 24-year-old man of no fixed address is charged with mischief, dangerous driving, possession of property obtained by crime, fraud, failing to comply with a recognizance, and drug possession.

He'll appear in court October 1.
