Elderly woman killed in crash involving scooter

An 82-year-old woman is dead after a mobility scooter collided with a pickup truck in Woodstock.

The scooter was heading south on Graham Street when it collided with a pickup truck that travelling west on Ingersoll Avenue around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The driver of the scooter, an 82-year-old Woodstock woman, was rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries and died a short time later. Her name has not been released.

The driver of the pickup was not hurt.

The intersection was closed for roughly five hours while police investigated the cause of the crash.

Police say the investigation is on-going and are asking anyone with information to call them at 519-537-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 519-421-TIPS (8477).

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
