Transport truck fire closes stretch of eastbound Highway 402

Middlesex OPP had to shut down the eastbound lanes of Highway 402 at Wonderland Road after a transport truck caught fire early Monday morning.

Police said they were called to the scene at around 4:30 a.m. after the trailer of a transport truck caught fire while it was heading towards London on the highway just east of Wonderland Rodd.

Officers said the driver pulled over onto the shoulder after becoming aware of the fire and detached his truck from the trailer, which was carrying fruit.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The road re-opened just after 10:30 a.m.
