Driver injured in SUV-garbage truck crash

One person is in hospital after a collision involving an SUV and a garbage truck.

It happened on Westchester Bourne (Highway 74) north of Highway 401 around 1 p.m. Tuesday. According to police, a southbound garbage truck was rear-ended by the SUV. The collision caused the SUV to spin off the road and into the northbound lanes before it came to rest in the ditch.

The man driving the SUV was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Westchester Bourne was closed to traffic for approximately three hours. The collision is still under investigation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
