Assault victim's condition improves

The condition of a 26-year-old man, who was seriously hurt after an argument turned physical in downtown London over the weekend, is slowly improving.

Two men got into an altercation around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday in the area of Talbot Street and King Street. The verbal argument quickly escalated with the 26-year-old man suffering life threatening injuries. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

As of Tuesday morning, the man's condition had improved to critical, but stable.

London police arrested a 28-year-old man in relation to the incident.

James Andrew Mackie of London is charged with aggravated assault. He is scheduled to appear in court to answer to the charge on Tuesday.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
