Police seeking sex assault suspect

London police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect after a teen was sexually assaulted in an LTC bus shelter.

Police said it happened Sunday around 7:10 p.m. on Oxford Street just east of Proudfoot Lane. A 17-year-old girl was waiting for a bus when a man approached her, sexually assaulted her, and then ran west on Oxford.

Officers searched the area, but did not find the attacker.

The suspect is described as a black male, between 19-20 years of age and approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall. He has a slim-to-medium build, small eyes, short black hair, and was clean shaven. He was wearing a black t-shirt, white sneakers, and white athletic shorts that may have had a red coloured design along the sides.

The suspect was also carrying a purple "Western" hooded sweatshirt with the Mustang logo along the sleeve. He was observed putting on the sweatshirt with the hood up while he was running from the scene. He may have also been carrying a small bag with him.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in on-line anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com.
