OPP officer charged after collision

An OPP officer with one year on the job has been charged after a collision in Exeter.

The OPP announced Wednesday that the officer from the Huron detachment was involved in a crash on September 29, 2018. According to police, he was driving a marked OPP vehicle on Main Street in Exeter when he tried to perform a U-turn. The police vehicle collided with a pick-up truck that was heading in the same direction.

The driver of the pick-up truck suffered minor injuries.

The officer was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with making an unsafe turn.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
