London police have made the largest fentanyl seizure in the city's history, netting over $43,000 worth of the deadly opioid.
Members of the police guns and drugs section, which is made up of officers from the London Police Service, RCMP, and OPP, raided a home on Ellsworth Crescent Wednesday morning and seized 107 grams of fentanyl, 177 grams of cocaine, 145 grams of marijuana, and nearly $10,000 cash.
The total value of the drugs is estimated to be $62,000.
“Any day we are able to get illegal opioids off the street is a great day because people are overdosing on these deadly drugs almost every day in this city,” said Det. Sgt. Rob Merrimen, head of the Guns and Drugs Section. “Having access to addiction treatment is essential to addressing this scourge, but cutting the supply is also an important part of the solution."
A 54-year-old man, a 59-year-old woman, and a 35-year-old woman, all of London, are charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking.
The trio appeared in London court in relation to the charges on Wednesday.
