School board trustee election results

Several incumbent school board trustees will be returning for another term within the London District Catholic School Board and the Thames Valley District School Board.

Unofficial results from Monday's election show six incumbents were re-elected to the Catholic board, while five incumbents will return to the Thames Valley board.

While London's city council was elected using the new ranked ballot system, school board trustees were voted in using the traditional first-past-the-post method.

In the Catholic board race, Gabe Pizzuti beat out incumbent Stephen Paul, by 290 votes. Pedro Almeida, Sandra Cruz, Linda Steel, John Jevnikar, Bill Hall (Elgin) and Mary Holmes (Oxford) were also voted back in. Mary Wolfs was acclaimed as the trustee from Middlesex County.

In Thames Valley, incumbents Sheri Polhill, Joyce Bennett, Jake Skinner, Graham Hart (Oxford), and Arlene Morell (Middlesex) were re-elected. Newcomers Lori-Ann Pizzolato, Peter Cuddy, Corrine Rahman, Barb Yeoman (Oxford), Meagan Ruddock (Elgin), Bruce Smith (Elgin) and Sean Hunt (Middlesex) were also elected.

Wards 5, 6, 7 (one to be elected) Gabe Pizzuti: 2,002 Stephen Paul: 1,712

Wards 8, 9, 10 (one to be elected) Linda Steel: 2,733 Arthur Patrick Macleod: 1,046

Wards 11, 12, 13 (one to be elected) John Jevnikar: 1,484 Nando Favaro: 693

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
