SIU investigating death of Woodstock woman

Ontario's police watchdog has launched an investigation into the death of a 31-year-old woman in Woodstock.

The Special Investigations Unit was called in after Woodstock police responded to a report of a woman in need of medical assistance at a home in the area of Dundas Street and Springbank Avenue around 1:40 a.m. on Wednesday. When officers arrived they began performing CPR and administered naloxone to the woman. She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

"At this time, three investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to this incident," the SIU said in a statement.

Investigators are urging anyone with information related to the woman's death to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. Video evidence can be upload through the SIU website.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury, or allegations of sexual assault.
