Windham house fire leaves one dead

Ontario Provincial Police in Norfolk County say a man has died in a house fire.

It happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. Saturday at a home on LaSalette Rd. in Windham. OPP Constable Ed Sanchuk said officers were called by the Norfolk County Fire Department on a report of a house fire. While firefighters were able to put the blaze out, a search of the house by rescuers uncovered a deceased male.

The man has not yet been identified, pending notification of loved ones. The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office has been contacted and will be on scene to determine exactly what happened.

The Norfolk OPP Criminal Investigations Unit is continuing to investigate. Anyone with information on this matter should call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
