Elgin OPP officers save unconscious man's life

Provincial police in Elgin County are being credited with saving the life of a man who was found unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle at the side of Hwy. 401, west of London.

Officers responding to reports of a suspicious vehicle that was pulled over near Union Rd. in Southwold Township around 2:30 a.m. on Monday found the driver alone in the locked vehicle and were unable to wake him up. They determined the man was in medical distress and radioed for paramedics.

Police then got into the vehicle through the passenger door and helped paramedics get the 35-year-old Mississauga man to hospital.

"The attending doctors were clear that this individual would have died if left at the roadside," said police.
