Knights take Kitchener 5-1, move into first place

Matthew Timms collected three assists as the London Knights beat the Kitchener Rangers 5-1 Sunday afternoon at Budweiser Gardens.

The win puts the Knights atop the OHL Midwest Division with a 12-4-2 record, good for 26 points.

London opened things up with a pair of goals in the first period. Connor McMichael scored his 12th goal of the season at 8:40, then Alex Turko doubled the Knights' lead with his first of the year, scored with 31 seconds left in the frame.

The Knights doubled their lead with another pair of unanswered goals in the middle segment. Evan Bouchard added his goal at 9:16, and Liam Foudy's over six minutes later made it 4-0 London. Kitchener got on the board with 27 seconds left in the period with a power play goal by Alexey Lipanov.

Nathan Dunkley added a goal in the third period for good measure.

Jordan Kooy stopped all but one of 26 shots he faced between the pipes for the Knights. Luke Richardson had 20 saves for the Rangers.

London next hosts the Peterborough Petes on Friday night.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
