Drunk driving charges laid after vehicle flips on Brydges

A 27-year-old London man has been charged with impaired driving after a vehicle took out two telephone poles before landing on its roof in the east-end.

London police were called to the single-vehicle crash on Brydges Street near Graydon Street around 1 p.m. on Thursday. The vehicle had been travelling east when it veered off the roadway and hit an LTC bus stop sign and two telephone poles. The vehicle travelled roughly 70 feet along the sidewalk before hitting the second pole and coming to rest on its roof, police said.

The driver suffered minor injuries that did not require medical attention. He is charged with driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood and driving while impaired. The man is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charged on December 12.

The crash closed Brydges Street between Cornish Street and Graydon Street for several hours.

Damaged is estimated at $45,500.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
