Knife wielding teen charged with assault

A 15-year-old St. Thomas boy is accused of assaulting his mother and threatening others with a knife.

St. Thomas police were called to a disturbance at a city home around 10:05 a.m. on Sunday. Investigators determined a woman inside the home had been assaulted and several others threatened by a teenager armed with a knife.

The teen allegedly took off after police arrived at the home. He was arrested after a brief foot chase and struggle with officers nearby.

The female victim was treated for minor injuries.

The 15-year-old, who cannot be named because of his age, is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, uttering threats, mischief, and resisting arrest.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
