Storm snuff out Lightning 123-111 in Charlottetown

The London Lightning fell behind early Saturday night and was unable to recover.

The Island Storm had a big first period, outscoring the Lightning 37-22 on their way to a 123-111 win over London at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown. The loss leaves the Lightning with a 3-2 record on the season so far.

London was able to recoup some of those lost points before halftime, trailing the Storm 59-53. The score remained relatively close throughout the second half, but the Storm's big first quarter was enough to carry them through to victory.

Xavier Moon lad London with 27 points, with four rebounds and three assists. Garrett Williamson added 22 points and five boards and Kirk Williams Jr. added 22. On defence, Maurice Bolden led with 13 rebounds and sank 12 points for a double-double.

Sampson Carter led the Storm with 26 points. Tyler Scott added 22 points off the bench with seven rebounds, and Russell Byrd contributed 17 points. Alex Campbell led the Storm on rebounds with ten.

The Lightning return home on Thursday night to host the Windsor Express.
