Gun scare in Stratford locks down high schools

Stratford police had to lockdown all three highschools in the town on Wednesday afternoon because of a gun scare.

Staff Sergeant Jaime Taylor said the schools were locked down after reports of a student having a gun. Taylor added a 14-year-old boy was found quickly and arrested without incident outside school property.

Officers responded to a call just before 1 p.m. that a student from Stratford Northwestern Secondary School had a gun. Police issued a statement shortly after the situation was cleared saying they did not believe the threat was directed at anyone.

The gun turned out to be fake.

According to police, charges are not going to be laid. Instead, the teen will be sent to a diversion program.
